Wreck-n-Rule!!! Mastermind Reformatted R13 Spartan (Impactor)

Fans of the 90’s Transformers cartoons may not be familiar with the name Impactor, but those immersed in the comic world (both the classic stories and the more recent IDW version) are sure to recognize this iconic character. He is the former leader of the famous never-say-die group of Autobots known as the Wreckers. When an impossible mission needs to be done, Prime sends the Wreckers because he knows that these bots are willing to give their lives to accomplish anything (and actually, a number of them do end up dying for the cause). A strong leader is needed for missions like these, and Impactor more than fits the description.

Although not as imposing as the hulking Grimlock or the towering Ultra Magnus, Impactor’s armored frame is further augmented by the iconic hook he wields as a hand. The overall purple design serves as an offset to his rough and gritty demeanor. The helmet he uses reminds us of the famous Spartan warriors of ancient history – fighting to their last breaths.

The Third Party figure scales like a Voyager class TF which is perfect for any CHUG collection (displaying him next to Springer –another iconic Wreckers leader – is sure to bring out a smile in any IDW fan). Personally, I find the tank mode a bit too small (Metal Slug tanks anyone?) – but let’s be honest, nobody is going to display Impactor in that mode anyway. He is meant to be displayed in robot mode, which looks like it jumped straight out of a Nick Roche IDW comic book.

Impactor is meant to be the perennial bad-a$$ of the most bad-a$$ Autobot faction, and this figure perfectly captures that in every single detail.

TOY ASYLUM’S RATING (OUT OF 5 STARS)

OVERALL DESIGN - 4.5 OUT OF 5 STARS

- This near perfect figure is impressive down to the tiny details/features. The only downside is the Metal Slug-inspired vehicle mode.

PLAYABILITY - 4.5 OUT OF 5 STARS

- Impactor was meant to be displayed leading the Wreckers in any toy collection.

DURABILITY - 4.0 OUT OF 5 STARS

- Similar to other Mastermind products, the figure is very solid and looks built to last.

RARITY - 5.0 OUT OF 5 STARS

- Being one of the earlier releases by Mastermind, it is going to be a problem looking for one at the right price range.

*Not all of the pics are mine so a BIG thanks to the owners (and congratulations for a wonderful collection!).
